Support our new building!

SNS has completed a construction plan for a new SNS Complex. Curious? Keep scrolling!

THE PROJECT

Special Needs Service is engaged in a capital fund campaign to build a new facility in downtown Richmond, Missouri. The new building will allow SNS to fully implement and expand services. The new facility will allow SNS to hire additional support Service Coordinators to provide services for underserved families. The new building will provide space to expand CAP activities and provide a venue for community events. Richmond, Missouri, does not have a community center or other affordable venues for community events.

The new facility will serve as the hub for SNS services including office space for client services and inclusive activities. The complex will serve as an incubator for our client’s journey towards independence, economic self-sufficiency, and greater quality of life:

  • The Administration Area will house current clinical staff and provide offices for four additional Service Coordinators. The Administration Area will also have a large meeting space. The meeting space will have movable walls to provide smaller areas.

  • The Community Area will provide space for inclusive (children and adults, the community’s general population and our special needs clients) activities with our program Community at Play. Community at Play is a unique and successful initiative to interactive activities and sports. In addition, the building will have large doors that will open up to expand activities to the outside areas.

  • The Vendor Pod will provide an opportunity for small business start-ups for our clients.

  • The Certified Teaching Kitchen will provide clients, family members, and community members with the opportunity to learn how to cook and preserve food.

  • Storage Area will provide adequate storage for recycled adaptive equipment. This adaptive equipment is available when families are facing an urgent need.

The property for the new facility is located in the Richmond downtown area. It is close to the Ray County Courthouse and across from a park. The property will include a parking lot for clients and staff. Future plans include building an inclusive playground and locating physical fitness equipment on the property.
